It has been reported that the Dallas Mavericks denied a request to interview Jason Kidd, the Minnesota Timberwolves said no to Chris Finch, the Houston Rockets did the same with Ime Udoka, the Atlanta Hawks rejected a Quin Snyder interview, and the Chicago Bulls also shut down the idea of Billy Donovan.
If the team's real plan was to poach another team's coach, that shows a level of organizational incompetence that Barkley is right to roast them for having. However, we'll give the Knicks the benefit of the doubt until we see who their next head coach is.
Donovan, 60, played his lone NBA season in 1987-88 with the Knicks. Donovan coached Florida to back-to-back NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007 as part of a lengthy career coaching the Gators. He jumped to the NBA in 2015 with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he went 243-147 (.608 win pct) in five seasons there.
