The statue is not visible from the corner or from driving past on the street. You have to park and walk a few yards to get to it. It is a grat site to see at night . It is well lit. Full review by Maxine B

The admission is free. The parking is limited and it is meter parking. I might suggest using the underground Subway to get around. Traffic can be trying. Since you are going to DC I might suggest the African History museum. Contact them ahead of time for tickets. They are free but not a viable on the spot. If you know a veteran they do not have to wait in line.
